The Ida B. Wells Media Justice Center (MJC) won’t be possible without your support!
(all donations are tax deductible)

FUNDING is urgently needed to support logistical and equipment needs all the needs of the MJC listed below. PLEASE EMAIL: noeleen@thepraxisproject.org if you have any financial resources to support travel expenses of low-income grassroots journalists or for the technology needs listed below.

COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT for phone lines, high-speed Internet access, and networking in the MJC will be essential.
PLEASE EMAIL: Selah.Abrams@turner.com if you have equipment or technical know-how to help facilitate the communication needs at the MJC.

EQUIPMENT is badly needed in order for the MJC to train and support grassroots journalists in producing, publishing and broadcasting their stories. The MJC needs:

  • Computer workstations, high-speed Internet ready, with functional word processing, photo processing and web applications. Some of these workstations will also need design, web publishing, digital audio and video editing software installed.
  • External hard drive space for media storage
  • Black and white inkjet or laser printers.
  • Cables, power strips and other accessories
  • Phones, fax machine, and Internet networking equipment
  • Tables and chairs for computer workstations
  • Still digital cameras
  • MiniDV video cameras
  • Minidisc recorders or other portable digital audio recorders
  • Minidiscs, MiniDV tape stock, blank DVD-Rs and CD-Rs

All equipment donated or purchased for the MJC will be put to use after the USSF in Community Newsrooms in Atlanta and other locations, and will be a crucial resource in creating and sustaining a network of Grassroots Media Centers across the country.

  • Partner with other grassroots journalists, independent journalists, media activists and strategic communicators to report on the people, ideas and events of the U.S. Social Forum
  • Bring your skills, resources and knowledge to the MJC as a technical volunteer or a reporter/collaborator
  • Join forces with the grassroots media groups and journalists of the MJC to develop media strategy, train grassroots spokespeople or to target and liaise with corporate media
