Organization Description

Global Community Partnerships, Inc. (GCP) is a for-profit social enterprise. GCP’s mission is to catalyze a global project management infrastructure designed to give everyone, everywhere access to empowerment within two years and to complete the accomplishment of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) within five years. Through constant feedback to the human nervous system of that which is working to accomplish our global agenda, people will finally have an enabling environment to come together and co-create our future. This feedback will be powered by digital storytelling over a youth-led, peer-to-peer network of digital media studios contained in 22,000 community resource centers. This network of Digital Media Community Resource Centers will also provide access to microfinance and training in entrepreneurship. GCP is launching its first national network of 210 centers in June in Kenya. The Kenyan network will be partnered with dozens of centers around the world.

Session Description

In 1995, at the UN Social Summit, Member States began changing the commitments made for the year 2000 at the 1990 World Summit for Children. Believing that—with five years left on the clock—there wasn’t enough time left to keep promises made to the children of the world, goals were cut in half and dates were moved to 2015 and beyond.

YES-US realizes that without a global project management infrastructure robust enough to accomplish the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), it is possible the MDGs will also not be met.

In this workshop, through experiential group exercises, participants will comprehend how hundreds of billions of dollars in development monies hasn’t accomplished the global development agenda.

The intention of this workshop is to inspire participants to commit to comprehensive, coordinated action for the timely accomplishment of the MDGs.

This workshop will be led in English and Spanish by a diversified mix of youth from the US and Central America. Based on our experience at the Nairobi Social Summit, we anticipate between 50 and 100 participants. Our workshop is best suited for Saturday, June 30th (Strategizing – Strategies on achieving another world).
