This session will be on: June 30, 2007 - 1:00pm It will be held at: Front Area room at the Atlanta Civic Center View scheduleOrganization DescriptionCCPJ is a Southwest regional training center. CCPJ is focused on grassroots based organizational relationship building in the Southwest in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. The training center is also focused on movement building in the SW region and using popular education to stregthen civic engagement. CCPJ also understands the uniqueness of the SW and the borderlands. All trainers are representatives from diverse communities in the SW region, including native/indigenous representation. Proposal Demographicsidentify as women identify as LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-gendered, queer) identify as people of color are 25 years old or younger are immigrants (not born in U.S.) Session DescriptionThe session of Cross Cultural Movement Building in the Southwest will focus on the current struggles and success in AZ, CO, and NM, as well as, give a historical perspective of movement building. The stuggles and successed within the SW will be shared by those communities that are being directly affected and taking leadership in grassroots orgainizing. Movement building strategies will also be shared in this session and connections will be made between struggles and successes in the SW. This session will be representative of a diverse intergenerational community. Also, as part of this session a discussion of continued movement building, relationship building and solidarity will conclude this session. This session will be conducted in English. At this point, no interpretation nor translation devices have been confirmed. This session will have small group discussions and an opportunity to develop deeper relationship to further movement building. This session connects with many of the USSF crosscutting themes, for example, Indigenous Sovereignty, Immigrant and Migrant Rights, War, Militarization and Prisons, Workers Rights and Women and Queer Liberation.
