This session will be on: June 29, 2007 - 3:30pm It will be held at: Trolley Car Theater room at the APEX Museum View scheduleOrganization DescriptionUnited Despite conspires to create flash mobs for social change. We squat public spaces and confuse public discourse in an effort to imagine and implement an alternative, open source community.
Proposal Demographicsidentify as women identify as LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-gendered, queer) identify as people of color are 25 years old or younger are immigrants (not born in U.S.) are artists/cultural workers are diasabled are 65 years or older Session DescriptionThis panel will deflate our regurgitated cultural mythologies about who the hell we think we are. We'll all sit together in a room with a group of people who know far more than we do and poke holes in the absurd notions coming out of this country's so-called identity politics. We'll introduce you to a group of people who you've never heard of and who we think are the only people we know who have the right to say anything about knowing who they are. We'll eat crow, listen to world premiere personal narratives, throw around our respective struggles and watch them stick to the ceiling (or fall to the floor), compete for the microphone, watch other people argue in a language we don't understand, watch other people argue in a language we do understand, argue in a language we understand, and create a radically new perspective on autonomy, American citizenship, and cultural production.Space is unlimited, we expect millions, but we want you the most.
