Session Description

When it comes to media messaging and campaign strategy, few issues in the U.S. are trickier and harder than race and racism. Learn about the successful, cutting-edge work of an innovative racial justice organization. The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights takes on controversial and complicated issues such as police brutality, juvenile justice, violence and poverty.

This interactive and entertaining workshop will cover:
* MESSAGING ABOUT RACE: Use mainstream media to win broad support for controversial and unpopular issues
* USING INSIDE-OUTSIDE CAMPAIGN STRATEGIES: Attack targets using "outside" organizing jointly with "inside" advocacy
* RAISING FUNDS AND GATHERING POPULAR SUPPORT: Drive a virtuous cycle that converts mobilizations and media into funds and real resources for the campaign.

The workshop will be led by veteran campaigners with years of experience in strategic planning and communications.
