This mostly seems to be stemming from the confusion of having separate registrations for the conference and for the website login. Folks register for the conference, but not for a username on the website, and they get "access denied" for that reason.
I've been getting a bunch of these e-mails too (at tech@ussocialforum.org), and I've been replying with this form letter (below). If you like, you can send that form letter, but change the end to say, "If you're still having problems, send an e-mail to tech@ussocialforum.org".

Did you sign up for the conference or for the website? To submit a proposal, you must do both. To sign up for the conference, go here: http://www.ussf2007.org/register. Note that you must be registered as an organization (not an individual) to submit a proposal.
To get a site login, go here: http://www.ussf2007.org/en/user/register
If you've already got a site login, try going to http://www.ussf2007.org/en/user/password to get your e-mail resent.
