Our event will highlight the lessons of the struggle to defend the "Sanctuary Ordinance" in Chicago and in San Francisco, which prevents local law enforcement (like police) or city employees from assisting federal immigration authorities. We will articulate our political asessment of the situation of the multi-racial migrant communities in these cities, and their relationship to the broader struggle for full and equal rights for migrants and people of color in the US. We will have presenters representing different sectors including organized labor, community based organizations, and the faith community. It will be bilingual Spanish/English. Sera bilingue Espanol/Ingles.
