Session Description

4-hour workshop merged with 2634

The Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), or NAFTA on steriods!
How the 'three amigos' from the US, Mexico and Canada are conspiring to hand even more control to corporate interests. They have set up secret 'commissions' which are right this minute working to take control of water, energy, security and more with absolutely no public scrutiny.

This session will be a panel of 2 participants from each of the three countries (all members of the Hemispheric Social Alliance) who have been working together to unearth and publicize this new generation of corporate banditry. After many months of wrangling, we now have the first documents which have been turned over by the U.S. government under a Freedom of Information Inquiry. By the time of the forum we hope to have additional documents and the latest information on who the principal actors are, so that together we can develop strategies to expose and confront those seeking to control our future.

The workshop could most easily be conductied in Spanish, although some of the panelists will speak both Spanish and English. We have not yet worked out the issues of translation for this workshop, although we can explore the possibilities of borrowing headsets. We will have handouts in both Spanish and English.

In the case of challenges, this is a topic that is known by a very limited number of people. We hope that by providing new and previously unknown information, we can mobilize additional people to challenge this threat to all of our futures.
