Organization Description

Globalhood was created to improve collaboration between the various disciplines working in international development. Historically, development work has suffered from a lack of cooperation that often results in ineffective projects and wasted resources. And while development organizations can usually recover from such setbacks, the populations which they try to benefit are left to carry the continuing costs of such mistakes. Globalhood intends to prove that working through the lens of multidisciplinary collaboration across perspectives and professions results in improved achievements towards addressing global development challenges, and is therefore necessary in order to implement ethical, sustainable, and effective initiatives for traditionally marginalized populations.

Session Description

We are looking to work in collaboration with international and local communities and across disciplines, pulling together different resources and filing the niches, in this fashion we are able to structure a curriculum to empower urban youths, providing them with the tools necessary for their advancement, social skills and personal and professional growth. Our approach is triangular in essence, meeting at the crossroads: professional guidance, social development skills and international experience, along with a continuation of support and local resources.

We would like the participants to understand that collaboration is one of the stronger tools for development and sustainability for the underprivileged in urban setting. Thinking out of the traditional way and approaching a social issue from the roots are the initial tools young people are providing with to be ready for changes ahead. Our youth will be prepared to know what “development” really means in a globalize world and to apply knowledge and acquired skills.

Our presentation on “Urban Youth Growth and Development in a Globalize World” will address how to tackle immigrant urban youth underprivileged circumstances and turn it around by including them in a serious of experiences making them part of the globalize process towards sustainable development. We will talk about the innovative approach and social tool to empower youths, the community and villages in the developing world.

The participants will be able to learn what is Globalhood about and what projects we are undertaking. The innovative approach to a sustainalble development for empoverished community and how we will be applying local knowledge and to leverage collaboration. Also, participants will learn the way to get involved in the Globalpontential’s different projects and how to support the initiative.

The workshop will be conducted in English and Spanish. We will provide oral interpretation only and some handouts in English
Our bigger challenge is funding, more committed individuals and the expansion of our global and local connections. So we propose to create a viable network of information and constant human capital. Our strategy at the moment is the search for permanent funding, strategically search and allocate individuals with talents and a funding search system in place. We have no special needs at the moment.
