See: http://www.antiochsea.edu/about/creativechange/index.html Session DescriptionAs social change agents, we want to build a better world for everyone. We often work on our chosen issues in under-resourced organizations and communities. But a focus on specific issues means that we often have little time and energy to think about how our work contributes to long lasting progressive social change. We are so busy trying to win the battles, that we don’t pay as much attention to how to win the war. We need to slow down in order to wise up! This workshop will provide participants with the time and space necessary to think more deeply about how their work contributes to the larger process of progressive social change, and how they can be even more successful. After this workshop, participants will be better able to: - Understand current ideas about the factors that stimulate social change and how it actually happens This workshop will use the following approach: 1. Learning Community: The workshop will be based on the principles that knowledge is socially-constructed and that learning is primarily a collaborative, group process. 2. Workshop as Laboratory: The workshop will rely on experiential learning. The experiences of the participants will be a key vehicle for learning about social change. 3. Reflective Practice: The workshop will employ methods for individual and group reflection on actual practice. 4. Resources: All participants will be provided with resources to take away (book titles, articles and websites) on social change. The workshop will be conducted in English. Interpretation will not be provided. Sorry!
