Detailed Description

What follows is the code to hook up the map. There a several categories of needs here.
  1. Hook up the basic map so that we can see it working from somewhere.
  2. Find a way to calculate data for longitude and latitude in an automatic way so that we can use the calculation to automate populating the map.
  3. Populate the map with data.
  4. Put it up on the 'Who is Coming' main page.

(15:54:33) dkg: i thnk the goal is: create a function that emits the tagset that we want based on some underlying data from the nodes.
(15:54:45) jamie: I think we'll want to investigate
(15:54:58) ana: is there someone who knows how to do this and who can grab this part of it?
(15:55:24) ana: crickets...
(15:55:31) dkg: we need someone to:
(15:55:40) dkg: 0) identify what tagsets are desired in what locations
(15:55:46) libkuman@nyc: i'm a little confused, i think there are two different conversations going on
(15:55:59) libkuman@nyc: probably my fault
(15:56:00) dkg: 1) write the code that generates that tagset so we can make it easy to add these maps.
(15:56:08) dkg: those could be two different people.
(15:56:22) ana: thanks, dkg, i wouldn't have known how to frame this
(15:56:34) dkg: it could be as simple as an input filter like the imagehelper
(15:56:38) jamie: We've just done some preliminary discussion of two items - event scheduling and mapping
(15:56:38) ana: is there someone who wants to take th efirst part and who can get that done this week?
(15:56:57) jamie: I suggest we look at the techissues as a whole, and come up with the new features we want to prioritize
(15:57:00) ana: and then someone who wants to take the second part?
(15:57:03) dkg: i'm not going to work on this because i don't run the flash player. i can't work on something i can't test.
(15:57:03) jamie: then figure out who can work on them when
(15:57:25) jamie: It's hard to assign tasks before we've prioritized
(15:57:43) libkuman@nyc: i can help wiht this but cannot be the lead (still have another week or two to get Openflows back to stable)
(15:57:44) jamie: maybe the map is more important than the event scheduling? Not sure.
(15:58:06) ana: okay. do you want to do the dc report... we can wait to prioritize. that's fine.
(15:58:07) jamie: once we figure out the priority choosing who should work on things will be easier
(15:58:13) jamie: ok
(15:58:22) jamie: no report from me... I was hoping riley could pitch in
(15:58:23) libkuman@nyc: looks like somebody wrote a module to use Google's geocoding http://groups.drupal.org/node/781#comments____________
