TypeNeed Detailed DescriptionThe Program Working Group would like the following message to be emailed automatically to people whose proposals have been accepted. Dear USSF Session proposer, Thank you for your interest in the US Social Forum. The Program Working Group has reviewed your proposal for the session , and we're happy to report that your session has been accepted for inclusion in the Forum. The Logistics Working Group will make every effort to schedule your event when you requested it, although we cannot guarantee it. We are still working with Logistics to finalize a time and venue, and we will let you know as soon as these details are confirmed. Please note that we cannot provide any audio-visual equipment. If you will be using such equipment, let us know so we can find a venue that can accommodate you, but you and your organization will have responsibility for obtaining and setting up any such equipment. If you have any questions about the Forum program, please contact Mike Gasser (mikegasser@sbcglobal.net). We look forward to seeing you in Atlanta. US Social Forum Program Working Group Priorityimmediate Initial Discussion DeadlineApril 7, 2007 Assigned Toanawillem I huffed and I puffed, and I completed the basic configuration for this (created an action and workflow for this) but I do not know how to 'change workflow state' from say 'creation' to 'proposal recieved' to 'proposal accepted'. I am in a veritable quandry about this (and I'm not talking about that bar in Portland). I would also love to be explained how this happens. It seems that none of the workflow for proposals has been implemented (not proposal recieved or proposal accepted) for any of the proposals, although they have been configured from the ui to happen. I'm wondering if there isn't a magical step that I'm missing, and would love to know what this step is, and how it works. I'm invested at this point. Please teach me... ;) Thanks. ____________ I think that this issue can be handled easily with workflow/actions. We just need to transition away from the way states are being tracked now. The current model has them as a field in the cck type for session proposals. Workflows is not built to respond to those. What it needs is a change of workflow states, which you define in the workflow settings; each state change can in turn trigger an action. To change the states, you need to click the "workflow" tab on the node itself. Since there is a need to send off these emails, the folks accepting session proposals will need to change how they do it. Here is my recommendation for how to handle this. 0) Make sure that the workflows states, and associated actions are set up as desired. (I think this is done). 1) Explain the difference in how proposal states will be changed, and get them to understand that this change is the only way to have the emails fired off automagically. Walk them through it, and get them comfortable with it. 1.1) Evaluate the need to handle legacy. Have they sent hand written mails to people who's proposals are accepted? Have they notified them some other way? Would it be weird if they now got their congrats email? If the answer is yes to any of these, turn off the email action 1.2) Go back and adjust the workflow states on all of the previously accepted proposals so that you know what state they are in and the system in consistent. 1.2.1) If you turned off the email action turn it back on now. 2) Remove the CCK field that handles the state of session proposals now, so that there is no lingering confusion, and remove the ability of someone saying "But I changed it to accepted." Hi there, I suspect that links on the non-public proposal view (http://www.ussf2007.org/en/proposals_nonpublic) were disabled until this could be fixed. I made a decision to enable them for Allison Budschalow so she could make edits (she is a proposal admin). I advised her not to accept/reject proposals, since it seemed that this could complicate gnat's plan. I advised her to subscribe to this issue to know when it was OK to accept/reject proposals. |
I'm boosting this to immediate to ensure it gets covered on sunday. It should be relatively easy with the Workflow/Action modues (says Jamie who doesn't actually know how to configure them but trusts that the knowledge exists in the group :).
