I just set up the following three pages through the views module which might serve as an alternative to Drupal's built-in calendar display.

The main advantages are:

1) The link goes immediately to the session's actual node, where the description of the workshop and workshop organizer is listed (no intermediary content type node)
2) faster loading
3) less confusing filtering
4) easier to read (IMO)
5) Better language filtering

In order to be pushed live, i propose:

1) New top level menu item "Schedule", under "About" in the Social Forum menu
2) Any new schedule info be placed in the header field of these new Views (so as to not have an intermediary page for scheduling info)
3) an added bonus would be an iCalendar and/or RSS link, but that's very low priority.
