We would like to propose the following resolution for People's Movement Assembly, July 1st.
Whereas there exists a group of individuals and families within global society who have abused their power, wealth and position for their own benefit, at the cost of quite possibly the survival of our species,
We propose a boycott of any support of the corporate economy that feeds these individuals.
For one specific action,
from November 25, 2007 to January 2008 we will observe an old-fashioned Christmas by not buying any products from corporate retail outlets, we will make our gifts, give to the poor, and avoid all unnecessary spending. This holiday season we will make a commitment to Peace by refusing to pay for war.
And on an ongoing basis,
We will strive to keep our money in our communities to support the local economy while at the same time costing the ultra-wealthy a small fraction of their annual income. Giving our money that would otherwise go to multi-national corporations to small businesses instead strengthens America and provides more jobs and self-sufficiency at the local level.
We recognize that participation in this boycott we are sacrificing some of the products and services we have come to depend on, however, by strengthening our commitment to our local economies we help to provide the necessary economic support that will shield us from the coming economic collapse.
