Whereas, Choice USA advocates for a society where each individual has the
knowledge, ability and tools to have safe and healthy relationships; to
decide when, if and how you will have sex; to decide when, if and how
pregnancy will occur and once the pregnancy occurs, if it will be brought to
term; and the rights and resources to parent.

Whereas, Choice USA is youth led and youth driven we are committed to
supporting and developing youth as leaders in the Reproductive Rights and
Justice Movements. We recognize that while youth today are bombarded with
sex and sexual images in music, videos, television, movies, advertisements
and the internet they are denied medically accurate, unbiased, reliable
information about how to engage in sexuality in a healthy and responsible
way.

Whereas, for almost eight years now the American government has continued to
endorse and exclusively fund Abstinence-Only-until-Marriage-Programs in our
public education system that lies about condom effectiveness and birth
control and withholds information on prevention of pregnancy, sexually
transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS. Abstinence-Only-until-Marriage programs
use tax payer money to reinforce antiquated gender roles and discriminate
against gay and lesbian youth.

We resolve to support the Responsible Education About Life (REAL) Act which
would provide federal money to support responsible sex education for the
youth of this country. This education would include science-based, medically
accurate, and age appropriate public health information about both
abstinence and contraception. We ask all of the organizations, networks,
movements and every individual here at the USSF to demand that their
legislators support the REAL Act.
