Requirements for Self-Organized Events

  • Proposals will only be accepted from organizations. We strongly encourage collaboration between at least 2 organizations.
  • Organizations and facilitators must be registered in order to organize an event. Registration will be available from February 1st 2007 on our website. A sliding scale registration fee will be requested at the door. No one will be turned away.
  • The presentation format is up to the presenters, but we encourage you to use formats that are interactive, such as art-based activities, dialogues, story circles, role plays, small group discussion, etc.
  • Sessions will be allotted 90 minutes each.

Activity Topics:

The focus of this one-day forum is on social-economic justice and equality, the issues and the struggles. Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Youth and education
  • Building black brown alliances,
  • Affordable housing
  • Access to healthcare
  • Local-global organizing.

Application Procedure

  • Fill out the Proposal Form
  • Prepare your proposal in English or Spanish. Organizations conducting workshops in Spanish are responsible for providing own translation if necessary.
  • The deadline for submissions is February 9th 2007
  • It is preferred that proposals be submitted through the website or via email but, we will accept mailed or faxed submissions. You can register your workshop online or it can be emailed to dcmetrosf@ussf2007.org; faxed to 202-234-2689 attn. Ditra Edwards; or mailed to DC Metro SF c/o The Praxis Project, 1750 Columbia Road NW, Second Floor
    Washington, DC 20009.

  • Receipt of the proposal will be confirmed by e-mail or phone. Under the guidance of the Organizing Committee of the DC Metro Social Forum, a panel will evaluate all the proposals. You will be notified of acceptance by February 23rd 2007. We encourage you to submit your proposal as soon as possible since space for events is limited and cannot be guaranteed.
