Comfort Aid Stations
Español
Thousands of people will gather in Atlanta on June 27 through July 1, 2007 for the US Social Forum and we need you to help us in providing a safe and healthy place for people to organize, share, and network. Physicians, RNs, street medics, nursing/clinical assistants, and others with first aid training are needed to staff five comfort aid stations located throughout the US Social Forum sites. Depending on your training, you will be asked to help out in a variety of ways: • RN, LPN, MD, DO, APRN, EMT: Coordinate and supervise Comfort Aid stations. Assist in coordinating care to higher levels of care as needed. • Street Medics: Provide support, assistance and medical aid on the first day of the social forum: Action Day. There will be multiple decentralized actions throughout the city on this day and medics will be paired up to ensure the safety of participants. Street medics are also invited to help in staffing the Comfort Aid stations. • Clinical/Nursing Assistants: Provide additional support to Comfort Aid station visitors throughout the social forum. On June 28, 29, and 30th (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) Comfort Aid Stations will be open from 9am until 7pm and we are asking volunteers to help during one of the following shifts: 9am-12:30pm, 12pm-3:30pm, and 3pm-7pm. On Wednesday, only our Civic Center Comfort Aid Station will be open and we will need volunteers from 9am-11:30am, 11am-2:30pm, 2pm-4:30pm, and 4:00-7:00pm. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for multiple shifts during the Forum dates. Volunteers are asked to attend a training session on Tuesday, June 26 from 6pm-8pm to review procedures and tasks. This will take place at the Civic Center. If you are interested in volunteering please do the following: 1. Register for the US Social Forum by clicking HERE. The cost of registration is $15 which will allow you to participate in all US Social Forum events during the duration of the Forum.
